The Galactian Alignment System[2] is a gender system created for non-binary individuals to express their gender alignment without using terms like “female-aligned” or “male-aligned.[1]

Gender alignment is used to define one's relationship with a gender without defining their identity as that identity.[1][2] It is often useful to categorize one's experiences with gendered aspects of society. An example given by Tumblr user verges, the coiner of the first three terms, is that a man of color, a proxvir person of color, and a non-binary person of color who is mostly percieved/misgendered as male will all be affected by the same external male-specific racism.[1]

However, non-binary individuals using terms such as "male-aligned" and "female-aligned" can lead others to think that they are actually a man or woman. To avoid this, the galactian alignments were coined, as space is genderless, but many aspects of space are gendered.[1]
