Ocularic

Ocularic is an umbrella term for identities in which one's gender encompasses anything relating to unease, being watched, eye horror, dread, forbidden knowledge, and the dangerous curiosity of the unknown. Some things under this umbrella include:

• The Lovecraftian staple of horrors beyond man’s comprehension, even witnessing it for too long is too much to handle. No one who understands will ever be themselves again, not really.
• Glowing eyes in the distance as you shine your flashlight, unable to tell if it’s just an animal watching you or something far worse. When you shine your light on it again, the eyes are gone, but you still feel it staring back at you.
• Stage fright -- how you freeze with thousands of eyes staring you down. What are their intentions? Why won’t they look away? Your heart is pounding.
• The prickling feeling at the nape of your neck when you think you’re being watched.
• The morbid curiosity in the terror of it all, the drive to learn more, even if what you learn will destroy you. You’re too far gone, aren’t you?
• Something that looks human, but then its eyes open. All of them. Its body is covered in clusters of eyes and it roams the streets, like a predator on the hunt. You don’t want it to see you. It already has.
