Girlthing is a gender identity with two definitions:
- A gender identity in which one has a fluid or detached sense of femininity that may be affected by other identities.[1][2] This definition of girlthing does not necessarily have to be fem/woman aligned.
- A xenogender identity in which one's gender is related to being a girl and a thing; a girlthing.[3]
History
The first definition of girlthing was coined on September 26th, 2021, by Twitter user THESPlRAL.[1]
The second definition of girlthing was coined on September 8th, 2022, by Tumblr user knightcoric.[3]

Two girlthing flags were created on October 20th, 2021, by Twitter user THESPlRAL.[1]
An alternate girlthing flag was created on September 8th, 2022, by Tumblr user knightcoric.[3]
Another alternate girlthing flag was created on November 6th, 2022, by Tumblr user ryanyflags.[4]
