Maskmutive is an identity in which one’s gender mimics that of those around them due to neurodivergent masking, where an individual tries to conceal their differences by acting like others. It is a neurogender and type of mirrorgender.

History

Maskmutive was coined by Fandom user CelesteIsInvisible on December 23rd, 2023.

Flag

The maskmutive flag was created by CelesteIsInvisible on January 13, 2024. The colors are similar to, but not exact replicas of, the genderfluid flag. The flag was designed to look “covered up” because masking can hide who someone truly is.
