Dionisgender is a gastrogender identity in which one's gender expression changes depending on whether or not one is intoxicated by alcoholic beverages. These two states are classified as the dionis-type and the sober-type, and Dionisgender stipulates that specifically the dionis-type identity is preferred and more comfortable than the sober-type. For example, one might feel masculine when sober, but when drunk, one instead feels like a kind of Trigender, which feels much better than basic masculinity does.

Additionally, the two types don't necessarily need to represent different genders, and rather, they may represent the same gender, expressed to different magnitudes or in different ways. For example, one may feel strongly feminine when sober, and only faintly feminine when intoxicated, and this fainter sense might be preferred. This variety might alternatively be described as Dionisflux.

Furthermore, more complex kinds of Dionisgender can exist, where there are several different states that can be experienced depending on the extent of one's intoxication. For example, one might feel Non-binary when sober, like a Dogboy when moderately tipsy, and like a Doggirl when wasted.

Dionisgender bears certain similarities to Alcoholicgender, although there are key differences between the two;

  1. Alcoholicgender does not indicate whether the dionis-type or the sober-type is preferred, meanwhile Dionisgender indicates that the dionis-type is preferred and more euphoric for the user, while the sober-type feels bland and perhaps even dysphoric.
  2. Alcoholicgender is only to be used by alcoholics, meanwhile Dionisgender is available to anyone who consumes alcohol, regardless of quantity.

The inverse of Dionisgender is Sobergender.
