Transemme Spectrum
Transemme spectrum, also known as trans-m, is an umbrella term for any trans identity or term that relates to masculinity and/or manhood as well as miaspec genders.
A broad term to describe anyone who is trans in some way and is also masculine in some way.
Trans-M Terminology
- Transmingender: trans + mingender. Gender identity is masculine.
- Transmasculine: trans + masculine. Gender aspect, not gender identity.
- Transmian: trans + miaspec. Gender identity & gender aspect. AFAB only
- Trans male: trans + male. Any AGAB
- FtM (Trans male): trans + male. AFAB only
Difference between transmingender and transmasculine?
Transmasculine describes someone who is transitioning to masculinity, whereas transmingender is someone who is both trans and mingender. What makes it different from transmasculine, is that transmasculinity does not refer to gender itself (people who are not mingender or miaspec but are on masculinizing hormone therapy are included under transmasculine, but not transmingender unless their gender is masculine in nature).
Transmasculine does not necessarily refer to someone transitioning to a masculine gender, let alone a different gender at all. It just describes someone adopting masculinity that they did not previously have, be it through gender or by physical transition. Transmasculine also predominantly refers to feminine/female-to-masculine individuals. Transmingender refers to any AGAB.
Transmian V.S. trans man & transmasculine?
Transmian is the descriptive adjective form of trans man (FtM). It is the male version of transmasculine, as transmasculinity is not inherently male. Transmian specifically describes a male gender transition, while transmasculine broadly describes anyone whose masculinity is trans. It specifically refers to miaspec individuals that are trans. This, similar to transmasculine but not identical, exclusively refers to female-to-male individuals — not just predominantly like transmasculine. Trans man refers to anyone who is both a man and transgender, regardless of AGAB. Transmian refers to female-to-miaspec.
Transmian vs trans man (FtM)?

Trans man* refers to female-to-male. Transmian refers to female-to-miaspec, genders that are on the male side of the viabinary spectrum as well as also being trans. It is not possible for someone who is not AFAB to be transmian, but it is possible for them to be transmingender, transmasculine or a trans man. Transmian is also the descriptive form of trans man* which is a noun. Transmian is also called transmale.
