Refusgender is a gender identity describing one who wants to be seen as a certain gender, but does not actually identify as this gender. A refusgender individual may change how they choose to present their gender in certain situations. This has no impact on their mental state, and are content with presenting their gender this way, despite it not being the gender they identify as. One may also tell others that they are the gender they wish to be seen as; however, in some situations this can be toxic, especially when doing so to a partner.

This label should not be used for people who suffer with internalized transphobia, and should not be used in transphobic ways.
