Pancentroid is where one’s gender identity exists in the middle of the entire gender spectrum available to them. One may feel like they are “in-between” all genders.

Distinction

Pancentroid is different from (although a subset of) pangender. Pangender does not necessarily mean one is in the middle of all genders, while pancentroid does.

Pancentroid is also distinct from androgyne. Someone who is an androgyne may feel that they are in between being a boy/man and a girl/woman, while pancentroid is in between all genders (with the exception of exclusive genders for groups the individual does not belong to).

History

The term pancentroid was coined on or before 19th of November, 2022, posted by Beyond MOGAI Pride Flags on Tumblr. Its original flag was designed by Tumblr user isobug.[1]

Etymology

The prefix pan- comes from Ancient Greek meaning "all or every", combining with centroid is used in geometry to describe the center of a figure, such as centroid of a triangle.[2]
