Genderglacier is a genderfluid identity in which one's gender changes on an extremely slow timescale, largely but not exclusively used for describing long-lived entities in fictional contexts.

As an example, in fictional contexts, the shift in gender can occur on the scale of centuries. In real-life contexts, the shift in gender can be shorter, on the scale of several years.

The term "genderglacier" was created by a group of individuals including Tumblr users cellarwhales and looseelectronstudios prior to being coined via Tumblr post by user ausp-ice on January 8, 2024 along with the flag design.[1]
