Batcoric was coined on October 10, 2021 by Tumblr user gendercoining. The flag was made on the same day.

• Dark Blue Stripe - bats themselves !!
• Lighter Blue Stripe - batcore wardrobe aesthetics (large comfy clothes, cloaks, shawls, long jackets)
• Greyish Blue - rain, whether heavy or light
• Light Grey - morning fog
• Greyish Brown - abandoned graveyards, dirt, rocks
• Dark Brown - hot drinks, the darkness of night
• Green - cryptid aspect of batcore, wandering around at night, exploration
