Etymology

Affectakaric comes from the word affection and "akara", the Igbo word for seal. [1]

The first flag was coined alongside the gender by the same person. No meanings for the colors chosen were given. The second flag was coined on January 18th, 2026, by FANDOM user .sweetest.nectar..[2]

Meanings for the second flag:

  • Browns and greys stripes representing the many fur colors of different seals (with shades including sea lions, fur seals, and walruses)
  • A common seal pup
  • Hearts for the affection aspect
  • Fluff/frilled lace representing feelings of soft/delicate-ness, cozyness, cuteness
