Alternate Abinary Pride Flag

Abinary, abbreviated as AB (diminutive: aby), also known as apisgender or aphorian, is a gender quality used to refer to genders that are completely unrelated to maleness, masculinity, femaleness, or femininity, and are nowhere in between, being completely away from the binary, whilst still not always being genderless. Abinary genders may describe feeling any strength of gender whilst still being unrelated to the binary genders. The term abinary can be summarised as any gender that is unrelated to the binary.

The term is also sometimes used interchangeably with the terms unaligned non-binary or neutral aligned non-binary. This reinforces the fact that feminine or masculine-aligned non-binary genders are not considered abinary.

Some examples of abinary genders include neutrois, stellarian, maverique, and aporagender. Many xenogenders are also abinary.

History & Coining

The term was first mentioned in a coining post for the term midbinary by nothorses on or before October 25th, 2016. Other similar words arose up such as exterbinary and off-binary.

The term abinary is combination of the prefix a- and 'binary', to mean 'lacking binary'.

The first abinary flag was created by arco-pluris through the Tumblr blog beyond-mogai-pride-flags on May 18th, 2018. There is no known meaning.

Two alternate flags were created by FANDOM user Clear.Skyes on or before December 15th, 2020. They also have no confirmed meaning.
