Stealth or stealth identity is a term used to describe transgender people who have transitioned to their desired gender but have not informed the people around them about their gender's history.[2] For example, someone who was AFAB but is now male may move to live somewhere else and avoid telling the new people they meet that they were once AFAB. Said person would be "stealth" or have a "stealth identity".

Sometimes transgender people may feel it is necessary to have a stealth identity to avoid discrimination, although being stealth may negatively affect mental health.[2] People may also choose to be stealth in some parts of their lives but not in others, for example one may have a stealth identity at work but be open with friends.[3]
