Shellgender is a gender identity in which one's gender is thin, though clearly identified, yet feels somewhat hollow and unfelt. It can be used in combination with other identities, such as in shellgirl or shellboy, for example.

History
Shellgender was coined by Tumblr user Transmomoi via MOGAI-Archives on August 24, 2014 with the definition given.[2]
It was then recoined by Tumblr user gender-resource on July 27, 2020 with a simplified definition; "A clearly defined gender that is hollow and unfelt." The flag was created by the same user on the same day.[1]
