Incertagender is a Gender identity for people who don't identify with anything masculine, feminine or lacking gender altogether and are unsure about what label to apply.

The prefix "Incerta" is Latin for "Unsure" and is pronounced "in-ser-ta".

Basically, people who are Incertagender know that they have a gender but would rather be genderless physically and mentally but can't be.

Additionally, it can also be described as a gender identity for people who are unsure of what they identify as but need a label for it because other labels don't feel right.

It originated from a discussion of being unsure what gender identity label to use between my friends and I. There were two previous flag prototypes (admittedly gags) but then evolved into something more.

Incertagender could also be identified as / fall under the umbrellas of (depending on the person):

However, it is important to note there are differences between the afformentioned gender identities and Incertagender.

Distincions

Non-binary

Non-binary refers to "individuals whose gender identity does not exclusively fall into the binary gender classification of only "man" or "woman."

Incertagender could fall under the Non-binary umbrella as it doesn't connect with any binary genders, but it is important to note that Incertagender also reflects the lack of identity with any gender whatsoever (binary or not).

Genderqueer

Genderqueer is described as "a gender identity that is neither male nor female, is a combination of the two binary genders, is on a continuum between those two genders, or queers gender in some way."

Incertagender could be used interchangably with Genderqueer as both identities are both considered Transgender, but Incertagender does not use any concept of gender whereas Genderqueer does.

Agender

Agender is identified as many things, such as "being genderless", "gender neutral" and "not identifying with any gender". Additionally, Agender can also be described as "Not identifying with any gender; finding the concept of "gender" to be personally irrelevant or rejecting it for one's self."

While Incertagender is similar in terms of identification and lacking a set gender, the main difference is that Incertagender is outside the binary and non-binary aspects of gender, as well as not finding gender to be irrelevant and, in fact, a key aspect of their personal identity.

Flag history

Inspiration for this flag came from the Non-binary flag and its use of purple and yellow to represent a mix of genders and being outside the gender binary, respectively.

The flag uses a combination of both purple and yellow colors to represent the experience of being gendered physically and emotionally, knowing that gender identity is a significant experience of being Incertagender.
