Gender policing is when an outside person(s) tells one they are not allowed to identify as a certain gender. People police gender for reasons such as claiming someone does not have enough dysphoria to be transgender, claiming someone is not really their gender because they have a different gender expression, or other reasons. This is usually seen as a negative occurrence, because gender identity is an internal phenomenon that can only be determined by a person themselves.
