Clewagender is an idingender identity in which one's gender is always and wholly agender, but they may feel a shifting alignment[s] associated with it. This can be any gender alignment; the alignment may not feel complete, but experienced in a way similar to looking at it through clear water.

Common Definitions

Short for clear water gender. A type of mutogender where one is always entirely and static agender, but in certain situations and circumstances one can take on a different gender alignment (whether the alignment is related to anthrogender or xenogender). The alignment may not feel complete, experienced in a way akin to seeing something through clear water, as in it is not the actual thing, but instead a refraction of it. Similar to horogender, except it is not the gender that changes and is the alignment instead, while the gender itself is always and wholly agender.

History

Clewagender and its flag were coined by Tumblr user shaethecrow on August 20, 2025. On the flag, the color meanings are as follows: black and gray respectively represent a lack of gender and a semi-lack of gender, similar to the agender flag; seafoam/mint green represents the agender spectrum, as well as non-binary genders encompassed by it; light blue represents non-traditional genders (such as xenogenders) that may be represented in an alignment; and lighter grey represents how the strength of the alignment can differ. The overall muted tones represents how the alignments are translucent in the way that they are not the full gender themselves.[1]

Etymology

The gender's name comes from parts of the words "clear water", combined with "gender".[1]
