A boymoder is anyone who expresses themselves with masculinity and/or presents as a male with one or more gender qualities. Anyone, regardless of their internal gender, can boymode.

While 'malemode', 'mascmode', and 'andromode' may be the most neutral and proper terms, the term 'boymode' is most commonly and historically used in referral to malemoding/mascmoding/andromoding. Typically, there is an aesthetic presentational difference[2] between 'manmoding' and 'boymoding,' however, they are still listed as alternate names under the same label because they are both male presentations that fall under the same department of gender expression. 'Manmoding' and 'boymoding' are interchangeable, and can also be stacked or paired.

The feminine counterpart is girlmode, and the soft counterpart is softboymode.

Common Usage

In trans culture, a boymoder typically refers to a trans woman who presents themself as a boy or man. This is often because the individual may still be in the process of transitioning/hasn't yet but wants to, or hasn't yet come out. It is also used by anyone whose gender presentation isn't limited or singular. The term itself is gender-neutral and is not related to the user's internal gender identity.
