Label Non-Conforming (also known as LNC) is a term for those that use atypical label standards. LNC experiences include:

  • Individuals that use xenic labels or xenogenders
  • Individuals that use microlabels, pocket genders, or pocket orientations
  • Individuals that identify as both m-spec and lesbian/gay/straight/vincian/etc
  • Varioriented individuals
  • Individuals that label their tertiary orientations
  • Individuals that do not label their romantic/sexual orientation
  • Pomo- individuals
  • Individuals that do not label their gender identity
  • Pomogender indivuals
  • Individuals that use labels not commonly associated with their gender identity (ex. men or masculine-aligned individuals identifying as lesbians, and women or women-aligned individuals identifying as vincian)
  • Non-binary individuals that use gender or orientation labels that are often perceived as binary (ex. non-binary people that identify as straight)
  • Individuals that hoard or collect labels
  • Individuals that do not precisely fit the definition of a label, but identifies with it regardless (ex. a polysexual individual that identifies as bisexual due to not many people being aware of other m-spec labels)
  • Individuals that are labelflux
