The earliest reference to ⚣gender is on Tumblr user shephoard's blog which credits the coining of ⚣gender to squidgoric.[1] There is no surviving coining post to prove this though.
The creator of the ⚣gender flags can be assumed to also be squidgoric but, again, there is no surviving post to prove this.
