Northstarin is a gender modality (like Transgender and Cisgender) which was coined with religious queers in mind, however, it can be used by anyone.

== Definition ==
[[File:Simpler Flag.png|thumb|Simpler Alternative Flag]]
A term for individuals who experience genders different from the one they were assigned at birth, but do not change their gender due to either religion or any other reason (including transphobic parents, fear of invalidation, living in a country where changing your gender is illegal, etc.). Despite this, they identify with a ‘North Star’, or a gender-feeling. Meaning, although they do not change their gender, they identify with the gender they experience only on a mental level. They remain cisgender while not ignoring the gender(s) they experience and still identifying with them and considering them a part of their identity. They acknowledge their differing experiences from normal cisgender individuals and understand their desires. In simple terms, Northstarin is a cisgender individual who experiences genders different from the ones assigned at birth, but they identify with their gender experiences rather than identifying with another gender. Someone who is Northstarin is always cissexual.

They may add Star at the end of the gender they experience, North in front of it, or sandwich it in-between North Star. For example, someone whose North Star is Agender may call themselves AgenderStar, NorthAgender, or NorthAgenderStar. If not, they may simply say they’re Agender if they wish to.

This ‘gender-feeling’ is known as a North Star because the real-life North Star symbolises guidance, hope, direction, and steadfastness, meaning the person uses their religion as the guiding principle to their lives and remains patient. Or, they use the LGBTQIA+ community, and/or, the comfort they find in labels that fit them, as their light or hope.
[[File:Simplest.png|thumb|Simplest Second Alternative Flag]]
Someone who identifies as Northstarin is more than welcome to use an orientation that corresponds to their North Star. For example, if someone’s North Star is binary female, and they are attracted women, they may identify as lesbian.

This is similar to (but the not same as) Dysphoric Cis Individual, as someone who is Northstarin becomes apart of the LGBTQIA+ community due to being Northstarin. Meanwhile, a Dysphoric Cis Individual is not inherently LGBTQIA+.

Northstarin overlaps both with Transgender and Cisgender, and although Northstarin individuals don’t change their gender, they’re still different from normal cisgender individuals as they identify with their differing experiences.

This is inclusive of individuals who do not experience gender dysphoria.

== Etymology ==
The North Star is an almost-stationary star appearing in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been used as a reliable navigation tool for well over a thousand years. It remains fixed while the other stars revolve around it, it symbolizes a guiding presence and is often associated with destiny, understanding, and strong, unshakable belief across many cultures.
